Oil Spill

Oil spill on Gulf Coast killed ten people and spilled already so much. Trying to make a plan to contain spill. Underwater dispersant's are used to contain it. It may lead to long term problems. Government won't rest till it is stopped.


Immigrants

Many people have came as immigrants to live and get registered but many have not. Many illegal immigrants. Two kids came because of parents. Some kids are not allowed to go to college because she is not licenced. Lot of colleges will not admit students who are not legal.Trying to get registration act so kids can go to school.Estimated 12,000 people that are illegal immigrants and many still coming. Many doesn't do harm to country.

20 year old is taking college classes from where she grew up. She is getting good eduction. She imported her education cause they don't have it where she lives. Cost to each school is nothing.


You get financial education and it is awesome. Most kids are American there. About 2,000 kids there.

President Obama


President signed heath care bill yesterday.Fast food restaurants are trying to get more info on food menus for people to know how many calories are in the food. New law contains vending machines too.




Kid on George Lopez


Lewis Garcia is choosing to go to school and help kids in Cambodia. He wants to be a regular teen and didn't want to leave because it was hard and he got really close to him. The kids started to call him mom and daddy. He can't Wait to go back.

Big tornado in Oklahoma. Tornadoes mostly occur here. No injuries.
Earthquake
Big earthquake, powerful enough to shift earth's axis. Don't worry it won't effect time.
Soda
Soft drink sales are down 75%. Trying to get soda out of schools. Trying to put tax on soda to cut down on obiesity. Beverage industry doesn't want to put taxes on soda. People think taxing won't do a lot. Would you drink soda if it cost more?
Books
One kid summed up a book in 60 seconds.This girl gives take on characters, plot ,a nd setting.
She wants to get teens excited about literature. 60 second recap isin't a way to cheat. Girl only gives students little enough to get idea but still you have to actually read the books.

Football


Thomas Jones talks to students how he did in school and got on honor role. Came from really small town of 45 people. For three straight years he was class president. He made it to regional spelling bee. Went to school in summer and took college classes in high school. Got scholarship for football. He plays on the Jets. He is only 15 credits away to get his Masters Degree. Wants to go back to school. Jets just released Jones for a free agent.
